1. Formatting
the USB pen drive under Windows
Before you
begin, format the USB stick making sure you save any important data prior to
this step.
Select and right-click on the USB stick and click "Format" (Choose any format)
In
case you have problems to format your pen drive try this very good "HP
USB Disk Storage Tool"
2. Prepare to Install the AdvaTEX software to USB
Now install the AdvaTEX software on the previously formatted USB pen drive.
For this, please follow these steps:
a) Download the
AdvaTEX software to your computer
b) Download and install
USBit.zip to your computer to be able to boot from the
USB pen drive directly
3. Installing the AdvaTEX software to the USB pen drive
Please note:
When restoring the AdvaTEX image to the USB drive with usbit.exe, make sure to
right click and run the software usbit as administrator. In the upper left of
the software usbit user interface, there is a drop down box to select "Volume
Mode" or "Device Mode" (Volume Mode is the default). For the AdvaTEX.img to work
properly, the USB drive needs to be imaged in "Device Mode", so please select
"Device Mode". If you can not change to "Device Mode" please restart the
software usbit and make sure to run it with administrator rights.
1) Start USBit - USB Image Tool
2) Select the correct Device (see list on the left) and choose "Device
Mode". If you can not change to device mode you must restart USBit with admin
rights.
3) Click on "Restore"
4) Select the file "AdvaTEX.img" which was previously downloaded
5) Click "Yes" to restore the AdvaTEX.img to the USB stick (This will install
the AdvaTEX.img on the USB stick, in order to be able to boot from it)
6) Now connect your PC/Laptop to the internet (LAN cable) and plug in the USB
pen drive/stick and the Bluetooth USB dongle/stick.
7) Reboot your PC/Laptop/MiniPC (Make sure the BIOS settings are set to boot
from USB stick) The software starts automatically.
Please note:
To use the AdvaTEX software and set up a campaign you have to first register
yourself as an user and also to register your connected device (PC/Laptop or
MiniPC)
New User registration Process
A) New User registration Process - How to register yourself as a user
1) On your
mobile phone go to your contacts and create a new contact entry with the Last
Name "setuser". Next, in the Email field please enter your valid email address.
All other fields (first name, phone number etc.) have to remain empty. Do not
forget to save your new contact called "setuser".
2) Now send your contact to your Bluetooth USB stick. (The name of the Bluetooth
Stick is preset to "AdvaTEX") Usually, this is done by selecting the contact in
your contact list, then click on "Send" and select "Send via Bluetooth".
3) After you have successfully sent the contact (Last Name: "setuser", Email "youremail@yourdomain.com")
to your Bluetooth stick, please go to
New User Registration page
4) Please
enter your e-mail-address and click "Register User". Please note: This email
address must be the same email address you have previously used for your
contact.
5) After clicking on "Register User" you will be shown a page with the first
half your password. Make sure to copy the password. It is recommended that you
write it down or copy it into a textfile. (Caution: This part of the password
will not be sent via email for security reasons. If you do not copy the
password, you will not be able to register (but you can always obtain a
new password for a new or an already existing user account ).
6) Part 2 of your password will be sent via email after the registration
process. Please check your email account. You should now have both parts of your
passwords. Please "merge" these 2 parts and use them for the next step.
7) Now go to the Login Page
and enter your
email address and your full password (both parts). (you can also obtain a new
password for a new or an already existing user account )
B) How to register your PC/Laptop or MiniPC as a social marketing hotspot
1) Please take your mobile phone go to your contacts and create a new contact with the
last name "sethostuser". Next, in the email field please enter your valid email
address. All other fields (first name, phone number etc.) have to remain empty.
Do not forget to save your new contact entry.
2) Now send your contact to your Bluetooth USB stick. (The name of the Bluetooth
Stick is preset to "AdvaTEX0") Usually, this is done by selecting the contact in
your contact list, then click on "Send" and select "Send via Bluetooth".
If there are problems to see your Bluetooth stick or to send to it
please check your internet connection and maybe try with another
Bluetooth stick.
3) After you have successfully sent the contact (Last name: "sethostuser"
and your Email address
"youremail@yourdomain.com") to your Bluetooth stick, please go to the
Login Page and login with your
user name (= your email address) and your password) and the click on
"Hosts". You should now
be able to see the registered host (= your social marketing hotspot).
